The PIO Card Scheme is no longer in existence with effect from 9th January 2015. All PIO Cards issued previously are deemed to be OCI cards. Applicants may apply for OCI Card in place of erstwhile PIO Card after 9th January 2015.

Important Notice on Issue of OCI Card in lieu of PIO Card

As PIO scheme has been withdrawn by Government of India, all PIO Card holders, who are residing in Slovakia, are requested to apply online for issue of OCI Card in lieu of his/her PIO Card by 31. 12. 2017. Issue of OCI Card in lieu of PIO Card is on gratis basis. No such request will be entertained after 31. 12. 2017. While submitting hard copy of application to this Mission, please bring your existing PIO Card with other necessary documents. Needless to say that OCI Card is a smart card and it provides more facilities than PIO Card.
